Central Pacific Species Seasons

Marlin: The tenth month of the year is often the top month for marlin in this spotsfishing zone, but action is also good in September and November and sporadic blues and rare black are likely to be found any time of year although they are often out further than the ships hunting for sailfish are likely to be sportsfishing.

Sailfish: From December to April when theystart moving north is rated the best season, but the big schools often move in October and sometimes stay elongated. Hardly a sail always advertise among the catch from June to September, mixed with the other species that are found in the beach during those months.

Tuna: The whole year along the Central Pacific Coast, but most plentiful from June through September. Most are the 8 to 12 lbs, but a 12 lbs and perhaps another two dozen in the one-hundred to two-hundred pounds range are taken every year.

Wahoo: Not popular in the zone around Quepos, but more abundant in the late summer further south, notable the Drake Bay and Caņo's Island zone from June to August.

Dorado: Best action starts with the winter rains that begin in May and wash debris from the river creeks lines that the dolphin favor.

Roosterfish: Best fishing is on June to September. Parrita; Palo Seco Damas; off the mouth of Naranjo River; Dominical and the Drake Bay; Caņo's Island zone. Best fishing is from June to September.

Snook: River mouths along the coast, Sierpe river and in the big lagoon. Best months are from July to November during the complex rainy season.
